Changing Your Website Just by Asking

5 min read

How it works in plain English

You don't need to learn how to design websites. You don't need to know HTML, CSS, or anything technical.

You just type what you want changed into the box on your dashboard — like asking a friend who happens to be a web designer:

  • "Change my phone number to 555-1234"
  • "Add a holiday closing notice at the top of my homepage"
  • "Make my Book Now button bigger and blue"
We read your website, make the change you asked for, and show you a preview. You look at the preview, and either:
  • ✅ Click Approve — the change goes live on your real site
  • ❌ Click Try again — describe what you'd rather see, and we take another shot
Nothing changes on your actual website until you approve a preview. You can't break anything.

What does it cost?

It's simple: every site gets 5 free AI changes to start, then it's $1 per change.

  • Most edits are 1 change ($1 after your free ones are used).
  • A brand-new page is a bigger job — the cost is always shown before it runs.
  • Replacing your logo is free.
You always see the cost before a bigger job runs, and you only pay when the change actually goes through.

How to write a good request

We're good, but we're not mind-readers. The more specific you are, the better the result.

Good ways to ask

  • "Change our phone number to (555) 123-4567 wherever it appears"
  • "Add a banner across the top of the homepage that says: Closed Dec 24-26, Happy Holidays!"
  • "On the About page, replace the second paragraph with: 'Founded in 2019, we specialize in residential plumbing and emergency repairs.'"
  • "Make the Contact Us button bigger, and change its color to dark navy blue"
  • "Add a testimonial under the existing testimonials section that says: 'Best service in town! — Sarah M.'"

Less good ways to ask

  • "Make it look better" — we don't know what "better" means to you
  • "Fix the design" — what specifically needs fixing?
  • "Update everything" — break it into one specific change at a time

Example requests by what you want to do

Changing text

  • "Change the headline from 'Welcome' to 'Welcome to Smith & Sons Plumbing'"
  • "Update our business hours to: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday 9am-2pm, Closed Sunday"
  • "Remove the paragraph about our old location on the Contact page"

Changing how things look

  • "Add a dark blue background to the big section at the top of the homepage"
  • "Make the logo in the header about 50% bigger"
  • "Put more space between the cards that show our services"

Adding new content

  • "Add a section called 'Our Process' with three steps: 1. Free consultation, 2. Custom quote, 3. Expert installation"
  • "Add a Google Map showing our location to the Contact page"
  • "Add a Call Now button in the top right of every page that lets people tap to dial 555-1234"

Rearranging the layout

  • "Move the testimonials section so it appears above the pricing section"
  • "On the Services page, add a list of quick links down the right side, one per service"
  • "Change the footer from three columns to two"

Pro tips

🎯 One change at a time. If you want to change five things, send five separate requests. They get done faster and come out cleaner than one big "fix all this" request.

📍 Say which page. If it's not the homepage, mention the page name: "on the About page", "on the Contact page". Otherwise we have to guess.

📋 Copy-paste the exact new text. Don't say "change the paragraph to something about our 25-year history" — write out the exact paragraph you want, word for word.

📌 Describe where. "At the top", "below the hero image", "in the footer", "after the testimonials section". Position matters.

🎨 Be specific about colors. "Dark blue" beats "a nice color." If you know a specific color, say it: "#1a3e72" or "the same color as our logo".

Common questions

"What if a change doesn't come out right?"
Click Try again and reword your request. You can do this as many times as you want until it's right.

"Can I undo a change after I approve it?"
Yes — your old version is automatically saved. Email support@siteglowup.ai with what you'd like rolled back and we'll restore the previous version.

"Can I add a new page?"
Yes. Just describe it: "Add a new page called 'Services' with three sections: residential plumbing, commercial plumbing, and emergency repairs". A brand-new page is a bigger job than tweaking an existing page; the cost is always shown before it runs.

"What can't be done this way?"
Anything involving real customer data (like importing a list of products), connecting to specific external services (like Stripe — those have their own setup flows), or making the website do something complicated like online booking. Those are addons you turn on from the dashboard, not change requests. If you're not sure, just ask.
